Alice's First 10K Run in Memory of Lewis

Alice Tringham 24th June 2019

Story

Thank you for coming to visit my #LivingForLewis JustGiving page!

On Sunday July 21st 2019, one day before the first anniversary of my beloved dad's death, I will be running my first EVER 10K.

Before my dad died, I made a promise to live my life to the fullest in his honour and, later, in his memory.  This commitment to #LiveForLewis is for all the nice, warm and fuzzy things (like his tree planting and leaf plaque memorial, and creating a wonderful #ChrisTinaMas) but also for all the hard, painful, and down-right "I just want to give up" things too.

So on the anniversary of his death, I will be honouring the second part of my commitment to do something that has resulted in a lot of blisters, aching muscles I didn't even know I had(!), several tears, and at least two moments of nearly quitting.

If you would like to #LiveForLewis and support me through this small fundraising effort, please consider throwing a couple of pounds or dollars into this virtual pot for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. The incredible multi-disciplinary staff there cared for my dad around-the-clock in his final weeks of life with dignity, compassion, and a good sense of humour (and if you knew Lewis, you'd know that last one was vital!)

*Donations can be received in both GBP£ and CAD$ - please select your currency from the drop down box when making a donation*

But Alice, why such a weird fundraising goal??

Having worked for a small charity, I know that every penny counts and I believe in knowing exactly what your £s or $s are really doing. So my target is based on providing the following items for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice:

£5 - a memory box for a bereaved child to store special items/messages/memories of their loved one to help support them through their loss

£13 - covering the cost for a patient's breakfast, lunch and dinner for a day

£23 - covering the cost for a patient's disposable medical supplies and equipment for a day (things like needles, syringes and dressings)

£60 - covering the cost of one session of bereavement counselling for anyone struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one

£140 - covering the cost of hospice nurse for a day

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and, however you choose to remember Lewis this July, I know he is so proud of all his friends and family.

Love,

Alice xxx
